 Refugee and Immigrant Helpline

The Minnesota Department of Human Services’ Refugee and Immigrant Helpline connects new Minnesotans to local information, resources and services in communities across the state. The DHS Resettlement Programs Office service is available to new Minnesotans, community organizations, county and Tribal staff—and anyone who has a question.

Multicultural Autism Action Network (MAAN)

The Multicultural Autism Action Network (MAAN) works to promote healthy child development in multicultural communities by helping families navigate disability services

Services provided include:

  • IEP & Special Education Support – Guidance through the Individualized Education Program and school services.
  • HCBS Navigation – Help with waivers, grants, MnChoices assessments, and CFSS.
  • Parent Support & Training – Somali, Oromo, Amharic, Spanish, and English groups and trainings.
  • Professional Development – Training for educators, health professionals, and service providers.
  • Advocacy – Promoting policy changes to improve equity in schools and communities

Centro Tyrone Guzman 

Centro Tyrone Guzman is the oldest and largest multi-service Latin organization in Minneapolis, dedicated to strengthening families through culturally rooted, intergenerational programs. The services they provide include:

Programs & Services

  • Early Childhood Education – Siembra Montessori Preschool (ages 3–6):
    A bilingual, Montessori-based preschool that nurtures children’s independence, creativity, and cultural identity while preparing them for long-term academic success.
  • Youth Programs (K–12):
    Holistic support for students through truancy prevention, tutoring, leadership development, mentorship, and programs that strengthen cultural identity and pride.
  • Adult & Family Education:
    Spanish literacy classes, parent workshops, and intergenerational learning opportunities that promote family engagement and lifelong education.
  • Health & Wellness (including Mental Health):
    Comprehensive services that include prenatal and postnatal care, nutrition education, women’s health initiatives, and chronic disease management. Mental health support is integrated across programs, offering culturally responsive approaches to emotional well-being, stress management, and access to resources for individuals and families.
  • Elder Support:
    Programs designed for older adults that foster social connection, promote healthy aging, and provide specialized support for those experiencing memory loss or dementia, including caregiver education and respite programs.
  • Community Advocacy:
    Initiatives that empower Latine families to be active voices in their communities, advance equity, and build collective resilience through culturally grounded leadership and advocacy.
